Trésors de la marine from Reetesh Motah on Vimeo.
It would be great to have someone operate the camera and change lenses while i can concentrate on composition, storytelling and continuity but that is a luxury i cannot afford at the moment. It's not ideal to be a one man band but the overall experience is gratifying after the edit is done. I made the most of the available daylight - though constantly changing - for most shots (160/ 320 ISO) but had to go into unwanted territory (6400 ISO) for some of the interior shots. My choice of vintage fast primes paid off in the end. No way i could have achieved that kind of "moving" imagery with some relatively cheap modern zoom lenses. None of the shots have been staged (except that hand opening to reveal a sculpted piece), i just let the "artists" get comfortable in front of the camera and work on their "craft".Promotional film "Trésors de la marine" shot in April 2012 in Mauritius. Shot at 24 fps on Canon 60D with - Canon EF 2.8, 28 | Carl Zeiss Flektogon 2.8, 35 | Chrome nose Canon FD 1.4, 50 | Tele Vivitar 1.8, 85 | Manfrotto 190XPROB.
